Obedience

Failure to comply to certain principles and laws laid down by authority is usually accompanied by some gravitated punishments. No one is oblivious to the direct consequence of the first disobedience as stated in [Genesis 3:1-19], though was geared by devil  but because the first human failed to take cognizance of what [1 Peter 5:8] says and due to this, humanity fell into the trap, they disobeyed God and the repercussions are the difficulties we all are encountering in all facets of life today. It is very important to take heed to instructions and regulations provided by authorities especially for the believers, we are vulnerable to so many tactics of the devil because our adversary is sent on earth [Revelation 12:12] and his purpose is to make more Christians to disobey God and get destroyed [John 10:10].

The Bible says in [1 Samuel 15:22] that “…to obey is better than sacrifice…” So many Christians today have ignored this basic concept of obedience because of lust to the flesh and their inability to anchor the excessive love of worldly things that is going to pass away with its desires [1 John 2:17] and this unruly love is a vulnerability that  the devil uses as an attack against believers to make them derail from God. As Christians, it is very paramount to obey God and do His will always as this is the only way to worship Him and get closer to Him so that we can prepare for whatever He leads us to and grow as a person.

Obedience simply means hearing the word of God and acting on it. It is a way of aligning to God’s will by hearing, trusting, submitting and surrendering to God and His word. Obedience is also seen as a way of loving Jesus, as a matter of fact, Jesus said; “If you love me, you will obey what I command” [John 14:15]. You need to leap away from the comfort zone you have created in sin and discipline yourself to be at peace with God so that you can in reverse, be at war with your sin.

Imagine the Obedience of Jesus Christ even to the point of death on the cross and He was greatly rewarded with Name above every other names and Powers over everything on earth and under the earth, even power over death [Philippians 2:8, Revelation 1:18]. When you are obedient to God, you will be able to shun all form of temptation of sins and live according to God’s instruction through the Spirit of the Lord.

Importance Of Obedience

  • Obedience shows that we love Jesus and makes us go closer to God [John 14:15]
  • Obedience brings life and healing [Number 21:6-9]
  • Obedience brings blessings of the Lord [Leviticus 26:3-10; Deuteronomy 6:24; Deuteronomy 28:1-2]
