A tree, when properly germinated, bears branches and the branches beautify the tree and give it adornment. Some of the branches will be observed to stretch towards the east, some stretch to the west while others spring northward (upward). It is impossible for all branches to focus in one direction hence, the adoration is undefined.
The church which is the body of Christ [1 Corinthians 12:27] can be compared to a fertile tree with so many braches whom are the believers. All members cannot serve the same purpose just as all branches of a tree cannot spring towards the same direction, the body of Christ is beautified and exalted if all members recognize and identify their respective callings. We are called to the same goal and objective but each with different purpose in a sectional pattern. Each works in his own division and all production is directed towards expanding the kingdom of God. This is the true concept of five-fold ministry, because God has embedded a particular talent in each one which is meant to be one’s specialization. Your specialization is your calling which gives you qualification and purpose in the house of God. All cannot be pastors, not all are teachers, nor can all be evangelists [1 Corinthians 12:28] but each of us is distributed into different segment of the folds.
Ephesians 4:11 says; “It was He (Jesus) who gave some to be (1) apostles, some to be (2) prophets, some to be (3) evangelists, and some to be (4) pastors and (5) teachers”. Each fold has its responsibilities in the body of Christ which must not be compromised with other things. The folds are the pillar of the church whose objective is teaching ministry of Jesus in order to gain more souls to the kingdom. These folds are unique as things as they are governing body in the ministry who gifted, talented and called to leadership by God within the local and global church. It is not rightful and religious to take the meaning and functions of each fold out of context, but must perform its tasks as directed by the Spirit because each must abide in Him that bears it and He in each folds, otherwise, such talent in the fold will be thrown away and casted into fire [John 15:5-6]
The function of the folds in general is edifying of the body of Christ [Ephesians 4:12] and this main function must not be taken beyond that context so that the church can be able to operate in the fullness of Christ’s ministry.
Discover your calling (talent) and know your role (purpose) in the house of God so you can identify your position in the five-fold ministry
